The door opened, the light pierced the darkness, and in walked my slave (with friend in tow) carrying bags of gifts for me. In all the excitement, I almost forgot to show my appreciation. Thankfully I kept my cool and displayed my carefully prepared gifts for my slave; four deflated tires and two dead batteries. Can’t inflate my tires with the electric pump since no batteries, and can’t pull start me since tires are too flat to move me. Brilliant once again. After two hours of mish-mashing around, the slaves got another vehicle to come close enough to power the air compressor. With semi-inflated tires, I was rolled out of my stall and pull started by the second vehicle. Onward into the night we went. Now naturally I wasn’t about to be driven for a few short kilometers after such a long wait, so I refused to charge my batteries until about 100 km had been driven; at which point it was midnight and the slaves were exhausted so we pulled into the spot where I am mighty famous, Santa Ana Camping and Fishing Club.
The following morning the gifts were unveiled for me in the light of day. Imagine my surprise to see a Detroit Truetrack Differential along with many other small parts for things I had previously destroyed. After the show and tell, we headed over to Federico’s to get some small wood working done on my shelving. Then on to Santa Ana to buy a few parts. In the evening Federico treated the slaves to an asado, and nature followed up with a hurricane in which the slaves left me outside completely exposed to this nightmare. Since I was still in a good mood, the next day I cooperated and we headed along the coast to Brasil. The evening ended with a stop in another old favorite Santa Teresa National Park. In the morning I was introduced to Knut, a Discovery from Switzerland. I’ll admit Knut looked very good, but nevertheless I did not appreciate the way the slaves were talking about Knut. It seems with so much time apart from me, the slaves have lost a little bit of their training.
